Skin cancer, including melanoma, can develop from seemingly harmless spots on the skin, and early diagnosis is crucial for successful treatment. Regular skin checks help track any changes in size, shape, or colour of moles and freckles, which are often early indicators of skin abnormalities.
Who is the Skin Clinic for?
The Skin Clinic and skin checks are particularly important for individuals with fair skin, a family history of skin cancer, a high number of moles, or those who spend significant time in the sun. However, anyone can be at risk, and it’s recommended that all adults perform monthly self-exams and schedule regular skin health checks to catch any potential issues as early as possible.
What can I expect?
Dr Stuart Illman (link to profile) has a particular interest in diagnosing and treating skin cancer.
Dr Illman runs weekly skin check and excision clinics. Living in North Queensland we have an increased chance of developing skin cancer throughout our lives. A regular skin check is important for preventing and treating this disease. Currently our skin services are only available to Cranbrook Medical patients.
